Whenever you see questions referencing the arcs or sectors of a circles, think "proportional". Specifically...

We have radians instead of degrees above since the problem mentions radians.


Since we are asked for the area, we only need to use part of this relationship.




Note the question you are being asked. The question asks "The area of the sector formed by central angle AOB is what fraction of the area of the circle?" We are not asked to solve for the sector or the total area. Just simplify the fraction to find your answer.
