NORWALK STUDENTS’ COLLEGE CHOICES CELEBRATED AT COLLEGE SIGNING DAY

College Signing Day is a part of a nationwide initiative to encourage students to go to college and celebrate those who are. The Norwalk students were a part of HELP’s College Edge Program, which includes a series of college-readiness workshops, SAT test preparation lessons, college tours and application coaching sessions.

Fields undertook the challenge and will run in the South Norwalk Marathon on Oct. 20 to raise money and awareness for HELP, which was founded with the goal of increasing access to higher education for underrepresented groups. It offers after-school homework help to elementary, middle and high school students, but also offers the College Edge Program, which provides college-readiness workshops, SAT test preparation lessons, college tours, and private coaching sessions.

The College Edge Program is operated by Higher Education Literacy Professionals (HELP) and is run in conjunction with the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
